Call for Papers

The editors of TRIP’s journal Philosophy are inviting papers for a special issue to celebrate its centenary.

In celebration of its Centenary in 2026 Philosophy, the journal of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, is planning a special issue on themes relating to Bernard Williams’s Philosophy as a Humanistic Discipline, (Philosophy, 2000). The issue, to be published in April 2026, will comprise specially commissioned contributions and selected papers.

We invite submissions of original papers addressing any theme relevant to Williams’s paper, including, for example, general issues such as the nature of philosophy, and its relation with history, literature, or the sciences.

Prospective contributors are invited to submit an abstract of 1000 words by 1st March 2024. Authors of selected abstracts will be notified in May 2024 and invited to submit their full papers by 31st Oct 2024.

Full papers will be considered through our standard triple blind refereeing process. Final decisions will be communicated to authors in Spring 2025.

Guidelines for contributors can be found here: https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/philosophy/information/instructions-contributors

When submitting, please state explicitly that your abstract is intended for the ‘2026 Centenary Special Issue.
