Introducing our new Managing Director

The Royal Institute of Philosophy is pleased to announce it has appointed a new Managing Director, Melanie Nightingale.

Our new Managing Director, Melanie Nightingale, has joined the charity to help it in its mission to share and inspire philosophical thinking as widely as possible.

Her appointment comes as the Institute also prepares to welcome its new Academic Director, Professor Edward Harcourt, making 2022 an exciting period of change for the organisation.

As a sector leader with over 20 years experience at both CEO level and as an organisational consultant, Melanie has been responsible for creating and delivering effective strategy for over 25 client charities.

Her career has seen her work with the Royal Institution, Classics for All and the Zoological Society of London, successfully taking their organisational strategy to wider audiences whilst creating robust organisational structure to support and develop growth in the longer term.

Over the past five years, she has spearheaded significant growth as the Director of the Military Wives Choirs, delivering over £550,000 of grant funding to the charity in just two years and seeing the choir network grow from strength to strength through the challenges of a pandemic.
