This talk will explore the new moment we are in given the #MeToo movement’s efforts to expand the public discussion of rape. Speaking about rape in the news media, in legal contexts, or just in one’s personal life is difficult given the ways in which our speech is so often misinterpreted, used against us, or made use of for purposes other than reducing sexual violence. How can we create the conditions for fair assessments as well as a better understanding of the nature of the experience?
